Absences - Parents should call the school by 9:00 a.m. each day that students are absent. If the school is not called, the office will generate a computerized phone call to remind parents that their child was not in school. It is the parent’s responsibility to send in an absence note to school the day the child returns to school from the illness.
Homework- Homework is given each night and must be completed for the next day. When homework is not completed, a connection notice is given to the child that states that he/ she must stay after school the next day if homework is still not completed. Parents are required to sign the notice stating that they have seen it. Parents are also called at home or work so they can make arrangements to pick up your child by 3:15 p.m.
Discipline – Ninety- two percent of Ritter Students display outstanding behavior. Eight percent have a tendency to cause disruption of classroom learning. The following assertive discipline will be used for any student who disrupts the learning process:
- Child’s name is placed on the board (warning).
- 1st Check- 2nd Warning
- 2nd Check- Isolation within the classrom- student returns when ready to join the group
- 3rd Check- Time out in another classroom within same grade level
- 4th Check- Student is assigned an after school Connection the next day for 30 minutes. Parents are notified with a special written notice which must be sent back the next day and parents are called to arrange pick-up of the student.
- If the problem continues, additional time out of the classroom isolation will continue and the principal will be contacted.
Gum Chewing - not permitted on school property.
Cell Phones- must be turned off and in backpack.
Electronic Devices, Toys and Games - Not permitted in school.
Identification- All clothing and lunch boxes should be marked with names or special pupil identification. Students must wear ID badges while in school.
Weapons- Bringing real or toy weapons to school may result in supspension or expulsion!
Morning Procedures- At 8:00 A.M. all students enter through the front doors, except students in kindergarten who should enter through the Kindergarten entrance off of Oswego Street and students in portable classrooms who should report directly to their classroom at the rear of the school.
Breakfast is served at 7:30 a.m. in the school cafeteriaOnce your child enters the cafeteria for breakfast, he/she will remain there until the morning bell rings. |
